The Nicosia International Festival 2025 will host two rising Cypriot choreographers who highlight contemporary dance through different perspectives: Olga Markari with the performance “The Rite of No Return” and Chloe Bellou with “Moments”. The performances will take place at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre on November 11 and 22, 2025, offering the audience two unique contemporary dance experiences.

Stravinsky’s “Rite of Spring” through the eyes of Olga Markari

Rising Cypriot choreographer Olga Markari presents the contemporary dance piece “The Rite of No Return”, inspired by Igor Stravinsky’s “Rite of Spring”. The performance, scheduled for Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at 20:30, explores the relationship between humans and nature, highlighting its destructive dimensions and delivering an urgent call for collective action.
Through contemporary movement, theatricality, and powerful musicality, the piece becomes a cry for environmental awareness. The use of recyclable materials in set and costume design by Mariandrie Chrysostomou emphasizes sustainable artistic creation.
