Giving special emphasis to the art of audiovisual media, the Nicosia International Festival 2025, in its sixth edition, presents the audiovisual theatrical performance “AND/DNA” by Anna Fo (Anna Fotiadou) on Saturday, 29 November 2025, at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre. Two performances, at 20:00 and 22:00, promise to shake up the artistic landscape, offering a spectacle beyond the ordinary.

Everything begins again...
“AND/DNA” is an interactive, circular, and allegorical story that returns to where it started — yet each time it seems different, something entirely different from what we are used to. Through this repetition with new perspectives, the performance challenges the audience to discover their own version of the story. It is a visual and interactive performance, one hour in duration. An allegorical and circular story, which can be repeated more than once.

An allegory

A dystopian reflection of today, the show speaks about censorship, the loss of freedom, and the suppression of truth. Using video walls, live performance, sound, light, vibrations, and paper, “AND/DNA” plays with the senses, pushing beyond the limits of a conventional theatre experience. It acts as a mirror of existing and possible realities — political, social, and psychological.
The creator explores the boundaries between image, text, and stage action, employing video art, soundscapes, and live presence to deconstruct traditional narratives. Using both analogue and digital media, she creates an environment in which the audience experiences the performance as a spatial and sensory encounter. The interaction between the actors and the audience, and the shared feeling of confinement, is one of the central aims of the performance.

A performance for everyone
Stage, image, sound, and movement merge into a living canvas, transporting the audience into a fluid, internally conflicted reality. The performance has been designed with inclusivity in mind: multichannel sound, subtitles, and special effects make the experience accessible to people with visual or hearing impairments.
