DANCING SWEETHEARTS, IN MIST AND MAGIC

The performance “Dancing Sweethearts, in Mist and Magic” will take place on Friday, December 5th, 2025, at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre (19:00), presented by the EGKOMIO Performative Arts Centre.
 
The evening includes classical ballet, contemporary dance, and jazz. It is a creative work developed exclusively through the weekly classes of the school’s children, teenagers, and adults - without pressure, without additional demanding rehearsals, but with respect and enjoyment of the creative process and the participants’ development. It is a 75-minute performance where bodies are liberated through movement, rhythm, music, and video projections.
 
The EGKOMIO Performative Arts Centre was founded in 2013 by choreographer/ dancer and dance educator Elena Christodoulidou in the Engomi Industrial Area. This year marks 35 years of the school’s educational journey, and this performance is an ode to the art of dance. The school’s philosophy - taught by talented dancer-teachers - is that dance is a fundamental necessity in every person’s life, and that attending dance classes in a safe environment, where initiative, teamwork, cooperation, and respect are cultivated, is of invaluable importance.
 
This year, for the first time, senior students of the school choreographed two short pieces - one classical ballet and one contemporary dance. With particular emphasis on the students’ creativity, the school always encourages experimentation, exploration, and the development of their own dance voice.
 
The school’s teaching and choreographic team includes: Elena Christodoulidou, Kristia Gavriilidou, Nicole Giannaka, Elina Karakosta, and Michailia Loukaidou.
 
The performance is suitable for all ages.
