CARMEN

The ballet “Carmen” will be presented in Cyprus by the State Theatre Balletto di Milano on Saturday, 18 October 2025, at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre (19:30).
 
Italy is the cradle of classical European ballet. The Balletto di Milano State Theater is rightly called its ambassador and is considered one of the most prestigious in the country.
 
The artistry of this renowned troupe captivates audiences around the world. For over 40 years, the theatre has been successfully touring throughout Italy and performing on leading stages in the UK, Ireland, Switzerland, Spain, Germany, and the US. The artists of the famous Balletto di Milano are recognized Master of Dance, educated at the legendary La Scala Academy and other prestigious international schools.

It is a ballet in two acts, with music by Georges Bizet, based on the novella by Prosper Mérimée. The ballet tells the tragic story of the captivating gypsy Carmen and her lover Don José, whom she leaves for the young bullfighter Escamillo. Their intertwined lives - and Carmen's final, heartbreaking fall at the hands of Don José - unfold with a sense of fatal inevitability.
 
Marco Pesta's vivid sets and bold, expressive choreography create a stage space where tradition blends seamlessly with refined theatricality.
