“Ω3” by PASHIAS

The Nicosia International Festival steps off the theatre stage to meet you in the heart of the newly established Eleftherias Square on Saturday, 27 May 2023, at 17:00, for the live performance “Ω3” by internationally acclaimed visual artist PASHIAS.
 
This original work presents the artist’s body divided in two, in the form of a mythical and “alien” being that does not belong or conform to the social collective. Embodying the expression “a fish out of water,” the artist interacts with the organic architecture of Zaha Hadid, carving his own public path toward his natural element and inviting the audience to join him in an open dialogue centered on diversity.
 
With over a decade of intensive practice, Cypriot visual artist PASHIAS has established his name as synonymous with the art of performance. His body has been exhibited live, through video and photography, or as sculpture countless times, each in a different shape, image, and concept. Always exploring the relationship between the individual and their social environment, PASHIAS creatively and incisively examines how we communicate and coexist in a shared space and time. His works have been presented in solo and group exhibitions, as well as international festivals in the UK, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Russia, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Sweden, Bulgaria, Turkey, Belgium, Brazil, and Canada. Notably, PASHIAS has collaborated with cultural institutions such as the Marina Abramović Institute, SESC São Paulo, the Estonian Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Mediterranean Biennale of Contemporary Art.
