“TEBAS LAND” by Vangelis Theodoropoulos

The production “Tebas Land” by Vangelis Theodoropoulos and the New World Theatre, a theatrical “phenomenon” of recent seasons - now in its third consecutive year in Athens - comes to Cyprus as part of the Nicosia International Festival 2025, on Tuesday, September 30 and Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre (20:30).
 
The performance is currently on a major national tour across Greece and has already been seen by over 100,000 spectators.
 
Written by Franco-Uruguayan playwright Sergio Blanco, one of the most compelling contemporary voices in Spanish-language theatre, the play is a modern exploration of male identity, oppression, violence, crime, punishment, and discrimination. At the same time, it reflects on the creative process of theatre itself, drawing inspiration from the myth of Oedipus and Dostoevsky’s “Crime and Punishment.”
 
Starring Thanos Lekkas and the talented, popular actor Dimitris Kapouranis, who was awarded the Dimitris Horn Award for 2022–2023 for his performance in this role.
