Renowned Cypriot pianist and composer Stavros Lantsias is presenting his new album, “Waving Hands”, in the framework of the Nicosia International Festival 2025, on Monday, December 1st, 2025, at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre (20:30).
This work, deeply personal and filled with emotion, is inspired by the birth of the artist’s twin daughters. Through ten brand-new compositions, Lantsias shares with the audience the joy of fatherhood and the power of life itself, praising tenderness, gratitude, and hope. "Fatherhood is, for me, a completely new and deeply creative experience! Every melody tells a little story of the countless unique moments I share with my wonderful daughters… Dedicated to Artemis and Iris," the composer emphasizes.
“Waving Hands,” hands that greet, welcome, and reach out to the world - symbolise the first encounter with life, the purity of expression, and communication beyond words.
For the Cyprus premiere of this work, Stavros Lantsias’s trio, featuring Michalis Kalkanis on double bass and Michalis Kapilidis on drums, will be joined by two outstanding musicians based in Cyprus: internationally acclaimed violinist Nikos Pittas and sensitive, technically accomplished cellist Robertas Grod. Their participation adds a distinctive energy to the concert, broadening the ensemble’s sonic range, and intensifying the emotional impact of the compositions.
The repertoire will also include beloved melodies from Lantsias’ career, such as “The Waltz of the Eyes” and “The Death of the Bull,” striking a balance between introspection and improvisational spontaneity.
