The performance titled “Existential Shade” Shios (“Σ̑σ̑ιος”) is brought to the International Festival of Nicosia 2025 by the rising Cypriot singer-songwriter and performer Savvas Chrysostomou, also known as Sais. This evocative performance, a call to the shadows that return for just one night, will take place on Tuesday, 18 November 2025, at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre (20:30), as part of the #UNDER30 programme.
At the edge of memory and oblivion, in the in-between space where lost stories dwell, the “Σ̑σ̑ιος” performance is born. An immersive experience with multimedia. Music, dance, and spoken word fuse into a ritual dedicated to the unseen heroes of this land: those who were celebrated in song and those who never found a place in any verse. Fragments of traditional songs and unwritten tales are woven together into a modern myth, told in the Cypriot dialect.
The performance is under the curation and artistic conception of the musician/ singer-songwriter Sais. It emerged from his collaboration with writer Giorgos Papaconstantinou, performer Alexandros Kyriazis, and musician-singer Freideriki Tombazou. The artist invites the audience to pause for a moment in the dark margins of the story. The space where perhaps the most human light is lurking.
About Sais
Sais began his musical journey at a young age. A graduate of Leeds Beckett University (Music Production and Performance), he has released three solo albums: “I paleta ton oniron sou” (2018), “En mes stin psyshin” (2021), and “Chromata” (2023), the latter of which was adapted into a book and staged as a theatrical concert, featuring texts by Giorgos Papaconstantinou, actress Antonia Charalambous, and other artists.
He has been awarded First Prize in the Song Performance category at the 3rd International Music Olympiad in Lithuania. Recently, he released his new album, “Yparxiaka”, affirming his position as one of the most vibrant and original voices in the Cypriot music scene. He has performed at festivals such as Fengaros and the Jerash Festival (Jordan). Simultaneously, he composes music and participates as a performer in theatre and dance productions. Since 2023, he has been a singer of the band “Prospectus”.
At just 27 years old, Sais has achieved what few have. He has managed to blend Cypriot lyrics with new artists, and multiple art forms, building communities within the creative world. This amalgam comes to life in his new musical show.
