Micaella Kythreoti Mhlaba is an active and accomplished figure in the fields of culture, society, and education, dedicated to the arts, the environment and contributing to society. She currently serves as a Municipal Councillor of Nicosia and as a member of the Nicosia School Board, representing AKEL. A graduate of Sheffield Hallam University in the United Kingdom (BA in Fine Art, MRes in Art & Design), she worked for a decade as a lecturer and researcher, participating in international exhibitions and exploring the impact of cultural heritage, political identity, and the environment on artistic creation.
Upon returning to Cyprus, she taught at private schools and at the University of Nicosia and served as Head of Educational Programs at the Loukia & Michael Zampelas Art Museum, developing initiatives that connected art with learning and community engagement. Since 2011, she has managed her own art and creativity studio in Aglantzia, fostering artistic expression and cultural participation. She is also actively involved in environmental, political, and cultural organizations, serving on boards including the Cyprus Environmental Movement, the Cyprus Federation of Environmental Organisations, the Nicosia District of the Cyprus Peace Council, Nicosia for Arts, the Hampis Municipal Museum of Printmaking, and the CVAR–Severis Foundation.
Her goal is to promote culture awareness and to consolidate her identity through creativity, education, politics, and civic engagement.
